The final day of netball at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games began with the bronze medal match between Australia and England, marking the first time the Diamonds had competed in a Commonwealth Games bronze medal playoff.

Both defensive units made a strong start, with neither side able to create an early turnover. England edged ahead by two goals after a missed attempt from Kiera Austin, but Australia quickly responded by capitalising on two misplaced passes to take control.

Courtney Bruce then produced a crucial interception, helping Australia build a five-goal advantage late in the opening quarter. The Diamonds finished the period strongly, going on a nine-goal unanswered run to establish a 19–11 lead.

England improved in the second quarter and created several opportunities through their defensive pressure. However, the Roses struggled to convert their turnovers, while Australia continued to disrupt their transition through the court. Bruce was outstanding defensively, recording four gains and four interceptions in the first half as Australia went into the break with a 35–24 lead.

The Roses lifted their intensity after half-time, with Cardwell providing a strong presence at goal shooter. Despite England’s improvement, Australia maintained control and extended their advantage into the final quarter.

The Diamonds responded impressively following their semi-final disappointment against Jamaica, producing a composed all-round performance to secure the bronze medal with a convincing 68–50 victory over England.

The final match at The OVO Hydro was the gold medal clash between Jamaica and New Zealand.

Jamaica were chasing their first Commonwealth Games gold medal, while New Zealand were aiming to claim their first title since 2010.

A missed attempt from Romelda Aiken allowed the Silver Ferns to establish an early advantage. Jamaica struggled to generate defensive turnovers, allowing New Zealand to maintain momentum and take a 16–13 lead into the first break.

New Zealand continued to play composed and clinical netball in the second quarter, with Maddy Gordon repeatedly finding Grace Nweke under the post. Jamaica created more opportunities late in the half, but the Silver Ferns held their advantage and went into half-time leading 28–25.

Jamaica came out strongly after the break, with Jodi-Ann Ward producing an important interception to level the scores. The contest then became a tense goal-for-goal battle before Kelly Jackson produced two crucial interceptions, helping New Zealand open up a five-goal lead with 15 minutes remaining.

The Silver Ferns carried that momentum into the final quarter, scoring the opening three goals to stretch their advantage to eight and put themselves firmly in control.

Grace Nweke was outstanding for New Zealand, finishing with 48 goals as the Silver Ferns secured their first Commonwealth Games gold medal in 16 years with a 56–48 victory over Jamaica.

The result brought the Glasgow 2026 netball competition to a thrilling conclusion, with New Zealand taking gold, Jamaica claiming silver, Australia earning bronze and England finishing fourth.
