Netball Super League Round 6: International Player Spotlight

Loughborough Lightning remain at the top of the Netball Super League (NSL) standings after Round 6, but there were notable shifts elsewhere. London Pulse climbed into second place, Manchester Thunder moved into third, and LexisNexis Dragons edged closer to the play-off spots.

Nottingham Forest vs LexisNexis Dragons
LexisNexis Dragons claimed their second victory of the season with a 62–57 win over Nottingham Forest in Round 6.

Welsh Feather Leah Middleton put in a strong defensive effort against one of the league’s most in-form shooters, South Africa SPAR Protea Rolene Streutker. Meanwhile, fellow Protea Khanyisa Chawane stood out in the midcourt for the Dragons.

Dragons dominated possession with 68 feeds into the circle compared to Forest’s 55, making the most of their opportunities despite Forest recording a higher shooting accuracy. The win moves Dragons to within three points of the play-off places.

London Pulse vs Birmingham Panthers
London Pulse delivered an emphatic performance to solidify their hold on second place, with their sights set firmly on the top.

England Roses Halimat Adio and Funmi Fadoju led a relentless defensive display, consistently disrupting Birmingham Panthers’ shooters and winning crucial ball. Fadoju recorded seven gains, while Adio added six.

In attack, Sophie Kelly made a major impact, sinking 14 Amex Super Shots to help secure a commanding 78–45 victory.

Loughborough Lightning vs Manchester Thunder
Loughborough Lightning extended both their unbeaten run and their grip on the top spot with another impressive performance against Manchester Thunder.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Samantha Wallace-Joseph demonstrated her scoring prowess once again, adding 26 goals to her season tally of 234—the highest in the league.

Defensively, South Africa SPAR Protea Shadine van der Merwe shone against her former team, earning Player of the Match honours for her standout display.

London Mavericks vs Leeds Rhinos
London Mavericks made it back-to-back wins with a 54–44 victory over Leeds Rhinos, marking their first home win of the season.

The Mavericks got off to a flying start, racing to a 7–0 lead with strong support from their home crowd against seventh-placed Rhinos.

Young England Rose Izzi Phillips played a key role, contributing at both ends of the court with three gains and 17 feeds into the circle. Her all-around performance earned her Player of the Match recognition.
